Frequently Asked Questions

  • thingstodoinmoosomin.ca is run by J’aime Payne.

I built it because I want to spend less time on Facebook without missing out on what’s happening in town.

One thing I’ve noticed since moving to Moosomin is that a lot of events and announcements live only on Facebook. There are good reasons for that (it’s familiar, fast, and a website can feel like extra cost and ongoing upkeep). The problem is that search engines don’t reliably capture Facebook posts or images, so people who aren’t actively on Facebook—or aren’t in the right groups—often never see your event.

  • It should be easy to discover what’s happening in town without needing to be on Facebook, in the right group, or online at the right moment.

A lot of great local events get missed when details are shared only in posts or images, and I want a single place where residents and visitors can quickly find things to do, plan ahead, and support local organizers.

This website and calendar is a community tool: it saves people time, helps events reach more of the right audience, and makes Moosomin’s activity and energy more visible—especially for families, newcomers, and anyone trying to spend less time scrolling and more time participating.

  • Community events in and around Moosomin: arts and culture, sports and recreation, family activities, workshops, markets, fundraisers, community meetings, and local business events.

  • No. This is an independent community listing built to make local events easier to find in one place.

  • Events are collected from publicly available sources (websites and public pages) and from direct submissions by organizers.

  • Some events are posted in multiple places. Duplicates are removed when detected, but occasionally more than one version slips through.

  • Listings are based on the most reliable available source at the time of posting, but details can change quickly. Always confirm using the organizer’s link if something is time-sensitive.

  • Regularly. New events are added as they’re found, and listings are refreshed to reflect changes when possible.

  • No.

  • Share the website, submit events early, report corrections.

  • We sure do!
